INTRODUCTION 

     The Agricultural cooperative Bank established on 15 August 1888. It is one of the oldest state Banks in Syria and the most extended as its branches number / 106 / spread all over the country and numerous districts. The same as other state banks, it is linked with the Minster of Finance. The Bank's capital amounts 10 million Syrian pounds settled completely.

The Bank, since its establishment, specialized with the agricultural finance , and kept on this situation till the issuance of the decree No 30 dated 30-4-2005 found to amend the Agricultural cooperative Bank law (decree No /141/ of 1970). and aimed to faciliating the banking processes, giving the Agricultural cooperative Bank board more authorities and expanding the Bank's activities and operations to cover all the rural activities wether they are agricultural, industrial, commercial or other activities as long as it is a rural activity, there by, the Bank converted to a comprehensive rural development Bank according to its new law.

 with the current modifications of the Bank's law. Also it had been restructered and its internal system had been amended. Therewith , the Bank finished the procedures of modernization of its law and basic systems.

In regad the automatization, it has been started to operate the branches, and it is decided to invest the Banking programs completely for all the branches before the end of 2006 .

 It is important to point out to the great support to the Bank by the testamentary bodies especially, his master Dr. Muhammad AL Hussein. the finance minister, and to the fruitful and positive cooperation with the Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, the Central Bank of Syria and the General Farmers Federation our acknowledgment and estimate to all of them. I also, favor with my acknowledgment and estimate to all employees in the Agricultural Cooperative Bank (Genenal Administration and branches) for their devoted efforts in achieving the ambitious aims and services that enable the Bank with the effective participation in developing the Syrian countryside as it is important part in the comprehensive economic social development process under the wise leadership of our president Bashar AL Assad .
